This new, 13 minute independent short, from the filmmakers of the Phish film “WIIIL-SOOON!,” tells the story of Holly Bowling, and the musical career she is building by interpreting and recording the music of the rock quartet Phish.
After spending a year on her first ever “jam-scription”, a piece she created by listening to and hand-writing into a musical manuscript Phish’s now famous improv work, “The Tahoe Tweezer”, Holly has been fast in pursuit of her dream to play music. First, she crowd-funded and recorded her first album in 2015 then she began touring the country playing Phish covers, interpretations, and her own original work.
“DISTILLING A DREAM” features the music of Phish ; a new interview with Royal Potato Family recording artist Marco Benevento; and exclusive footage of Holly’s first ever East Coast tour date last August in Philadelphia – which Phish bassist Mike Gordon attended ; all in a story that reveals how this budding star has transformed her dream into reality.
